Default HELP REGARDING AIR INTAKE

ok hey guys im new on here this is my first post im a new durango owner and im pretty sure you all are going to laugh at me regarding my question but i dont care , seriously if any of you can help me out id appreciate it.

so here it goes, i was at home bored drinking a beer and my neighbor and i were talking about air intakes and how he put one on his 04 ram 1500 so so so anyways hes telling me that he got his air intake for 40 dollars and that i can do the same thing and yeah its so great, (im a dumb **** for listening to other people) so now we go to discount auto parts and get some air intake for a 94-97 honda and he told me he got the same one for his 04 ram and it worked fine and blah blah blah. we buy the intake which is a pos and start taking the air flow boxes out of my durango and i disconnected my air sensor and hooked up this piece of **** intake. drove up and down the block a couple times , then drove to the gas station to go get gas. came back home and did some research on the net and realized im a complete idiot for not getting the correct air intake for my correct make and model vehicle, so i go outside take out the intake from discount auto parts, put all the original parts back in my car and hooked back up the air sensor. (which when i first disconnected it the check engine light came on) then turned my truck on and the check engine light is still on and i checked the air sensor to make sure it was on good, and it is. but now after my dumbass adventure my check engine light is on and wont go off.
im sure im gonna hear the remarks about how stupid i was and im smart enough to accept them,, but does anybody have any advice for my situation or some kind of answer,,, i just hope i didnt **** up my vehicle, it doesnt seem like anythings wrong at all but the check engine light wont go off so any help would mean a great deal to me. otherwise i gotta go look like a jackass to the guys at my dodge dealership ???

the vehicle is a 2007 durango SXT with the 4.7 v8

thanks
