Need help fast!!!
My key fob has not worked for nearly two years, in fact, it doesnt even have a battery in it as of now. So today I was getting in my Durango(2004), opened the door, put the key in the ignition, and the dashboard lights, blinker, and everything else started blinking really fast, ending with the horn chirping once. I immediately thought it had something to do with the security feature, so I took out the owners manual, and from what I read, I was correct. The problem though is that the only way to disable it is by using the key to unlock the doors, or using a a programmed key to start the ignition. Since my key is no longer programmed and has no battery(the battery connections are loose, so even with a new battery, it wasnt working), I cant disable it. My husbands key has the same problem. The only other thing that has us thinking it may not be the security feature is that when we try to start it, it just makes a clicking sound, as if the battery is dead, or the starter isnt starting. I guess my question is, is there any other way, a less expensive way than having it towed to the dealership, of disabling the alarm? Also, if anyone else has had this problem before, when trying to turn the ignition, did it make that clicking noise? Is that common when the alarm is enabled? TIA!
