Default 2007 SLT 4x4

Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a quick question. I am a first time Dodge owner, I have always driven Chevy's and on our way to purchase a Trailblazer I decided to take a look at the Durango's. After a quick test drive and discussing the new warrantly information we decided this was the vehicle for us. We are very excited and we are actually picking it up today. My question is as follows; the vehicle we purchased has the standard AM/FM w/ Cd Player plus the sirius radio, 8 alpine speakers and the 286-Watt amp plus the steering wheel Audio controls. The dealer wanted over $2000 to replace the unit with the navigation system. I have found several 3rd party vendors selling this same radio for around $1000, does anyone know if this is a plug and play situation besides having to change out the Bezel because it is a larger unit or is there a lot more involved. Any information would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to being part of the Dodge community.

Hi Rich - I'm doing the exact same thing on my 2007. You will need a navigation radio, GPS antennaand bezel for this to work. If you're going to buy off of Ebay or used anyplace else, make sure you buy from someone that has a bunch of positive feedback and not a lot of negative feedback. I'd also recommend asking whoever you buy from if the unit has the updated joystick. I seem to recall there being a problem with the joystick on earlier models of the REC radio.

The 07 service manual says that you need to remove the defroster vent cover and passenger side airbag to install the GPS antenna but I'm not totally convinced you have to remove the airbag. I'll be doing this in a couple of weeks and will post my results if you'd like.

I actually ordered everything on Friday so I am looking forward to trying to get everything installed correctly. I will let you know if I am able to get the GPS antenna installed without removing the air bad which I think would be a big pain in the butt if that is neccesary. Where was you able to locate the 07 service manual? I was also debating on installing the Uconnect and Read DVD system while I have everything tore apart but I am not sure how difficult it would be to install it since it is in the headliner. Do you have any experience with installing those? I will also let you know if the radio I ordered from ebay is of good quality. The guy I ordered it from has a perfectfeedback report and it appears he sales 1-2 of these radios a month. It claims to be NIB and the newest revision with the newest CD. I will let you know the outcome. Look forward to talking to you in the future!
