Ghost 4wd activation
Today my wife was backing into our driveway and noticedafter she shifted the trans into Reverse the 4wd indicator on the dash was lit -with the selectorknob still in the all wheel drive location.Anybody else experience this. Abouttogo out for a test drive to see if it will happen again.Any info will be greatly appreciated.
More info - it happened to me today. Started the D and let it warm up about 5min. When I was buckling my daughters in I could here the motor/device that actuates the 4wheel drive cycling( I did not know it was that until later). Obviously the D was in park. Took a 3/4 mile drive, parked it for an hour or so and left to come back home. During the drive home at each turn the 4wheel hi light on the dash was flickering on and then would blink at turns as if I had switched the selector to 4 wheel lock. As I turned into my driveway it did lock in 4wheel drive - the light on the dash was lit and it was bucking like a bronco- dry pavement ,concrete and 4wd hi don't mix well. Have a Haynes manual - not a big help. Anybody got any ideas? I will crawl under tonight to check the obvious - electrical connections etc. I have not had the electrical recall performed yet. Could this be related?

Seems like a number of folks have been seeing this weird behavior lately. IIRC, the solution was not the same for all cured cases. Try a battery disconnect and reset to see if that helps. Make sure you press the brake pedal down for a good minute or so during this process to completely discharge all power from the vehicle systems.
