Default Exaust and lift questions

New to the forum, and to Durangos. Just got mine yesterday. an '05 Hemi powered limited with AWD. Man this thing is Fast!

I have a couple of questions though. I can't leave stuff like this alone.
Where do I find good aftermarket parts for the 2nd Gen Durangos?
What I'm after is a good dual exhaust, and a moderate lift kit for better off road tires.

Also, how are people finding this thing off road? is it as capable as the 1st gen Durangos?

There is no lift kit for the G2 Durango. Only thing you can do is a torsion lift up front or a custom lift.
I have seen 1 with 8" and 12" on another forum.

Borla, Coors and Gibson are good choices for a cat back.

Never been off-roading with mine but word of mouth is telling they are not as good as the G.

Thanks. So how far can I lift the front end by adjusting the torsion bar before the ride suffers? is 3-4 inches possable?

I spoke to a truck driver about tightening down the front torsion bar to get lift in the front & he says don't do it. The truck was designed to be set the way it is, by tightening the torsion bar down, yes it will lift, but change alignment, but more importantly it reduces the integrity of the vehicle if your struck head on in an accident....Comments about this please?

I don't know about the head on crash scenario, unless it's based on the height of the bumper in which any type of vehicle lift would change this. changing the alignment he is correct about.

Well after a week of research I found 2 inches was reported as possable, which worked out to 8 turns of the screws on the TB. but when I got under the truck, I found mine could only handle 5 turns, 1.25 inches. it was easy enough, but not the heigth I want.

Does the front suspension of the gen2 durango share any parts with any other chryslers? could a lift kit from a dakota or Ram be pieced together to fit?

Good luch finding a lift all of us gen 3 Daks are having the same problems... all we have is a 2 inch spacer and a 3 inch body lift. you might be able to find a body lift... it allows us to fit 33's... Good luck. i wonder how similar our front ends are?
