'04 4.7L Oil Leak
My '04 Durango with the 4.7L engina has developed an oil leak. It only leaks when the engine is running and the leak is pretty constant. I wiped off the area on the engine and the area that was being dripped on then took it for a ride. I went about 4 miles and when I returned the area below the leak had a nice stream running down it anddrips right along the front of the oil pan.
I looked to see where the oil was originating from and it appears to be coming from the crankshaft seal. I originally though it may have been one of the gaskets on the block but it only leaks when the engine is running.
How difficult a job is it to replace it? I am going to have a shop do it so about how much is this going to cost?
Thanks to all.

How many miles on your D, and are you the 1st, 2nd, or third owner?? If it has less than 70k, and you are 1st owner the repair is covered under your 7/70 powertrain warranty. If you are #2, hopefully you paid the $150 xfer fee attime of purchase. If so, then warranty still applies.
If not, it could be as simple as a leaking oil sender which is threaded into the block near the oil filter. Could also be that filter is not on tight.
Clean the area really well, then let it idle while you carefully look from below. Hopefully you will see were it originates.

I am the 3rd owner, original owner traded it in, then it was auctioned to a dealership who I bought it from so no 7/70 for me. The truck has 45,000 on it and is covered by a 60 day limited warranty from the dealership. I'm just not sure what exactly that covers.
It is definitely coming from the crankshaft seal, I climbed under and got a good look. Two streams from each side of the shaft.

Most of those 60 day deals are pretty narrow in scope, but I would contact them and request assisitance.
Somehow, I have turned on the italics on this d**n thing and can't turn them off.
