Default oil light???

hey guys, just want to first say hey to everyone, im new to this dodge forum but have been around the forum game for a while, i used to have a ford so as you can imagine i was always looking for help fixing that thing...lol. but anyway, just picked up my "new" 04 durango from the dealer today, 5.7L hemi, and im loving it. so when i was on the test drive the oil light was on, i mentioned it to the salesman and he said he would look at it, of course it wasnt on when i picked up the truck, dont know what they did. but i pull onto my street tonight and it comes on again...wtf??? so i get under the hood and check the dip stick, the oil level is perfect and the truck runs like a champ, no wierd sounds. I am bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow but i am wondering if any of you guys have run into this before? i looked at the manual and the light warns of low pressure. i've had cars in the past that the light would come on when it was due for an oil change, is that the case with the durango's.

Welcome! That is not normal and the only time the oil light should come on is if it's low or you have a problem. What does the oil pressure look like? Your doing the right thing by making them look at it. That's not something you want to let go on for very long.

JBF:

If you are the second owner, make sure to get the remainder of your 7/70 powertrain warranty transferred into your name. You need to do this with in 30 days of purchase.
