Large trailer towing w/ the Hemi and 3.92
I've got an 04 Limited w/ Hemi and 3.92 with full tow package and presently pull a 4,800 lb open car hauler that siloetts the Durango roof line. It pulls this in converter lock-up at 70 mph without using the tow/hall mode.
I'm looking at buying an enclosed 28' V-nose featherlite trailer that is 8.5' wide, 8' tall with a weight of 8,000 lbs loaded using an equalizer hitch. I'm wondering if my D will pull it 65mph. If anyone has pulled something simular to this I'd like to hear from you. If you can post a pic of what you pull it'd be even better.
TIA, Mark

I am pullingthe Haulmark 20' enclosed trailer 6k lbs loaded in the mountain Socal seem to be fine with Haul/Tow mode on. If on the flat road I think it should be fine with 8k lbs load but with the mountain grade its depend. Good luck with your new trailer and let us know how it goes.
Some of my info first: have a '02 dually and the wife's '04 Durango. I tow my '68 Olds in a 24ft enclosed with the dually, and her '68 Olds on an 18' open. Durango handles the open great (total wieght is around 5500 lbs). Drag race lots and all over the NW so deal with the mountains, wind, etc.....
Now ONE time I hooked up the enclosed to the Durango with my car in it just to move it around te property AND IT SANK THE REAR SUSPENSION ENOUGH THAT I DEEMED I WOULD NEVER TRY TO TOW THE ENCLOSED WITH THE DURANGO. Total weight is around 7000 lbs. The wheelbase is so short I would NEVER consider it.
Been racing/towing with this setup for a lot of miles and I got a CDL and drive big rigs so I'm just sharing my personal experience/thought on the subject. You're just asking for trouble. If you must get the enclosed, trade in the Durango and get a long bed Ram 2500 minimum.....
