My 05 Durango 5.7 battery shorted out. It was the original battery but has anyone had this problem? Battery gave no warning that it was going to die.

They do very often just go at a moments notice. The last one I recall in our family worked fine when we went out to dinner, then would not even turn the motor over when we tried to go home.

Usually somewhere in the 4-6 year range they go belly up.

thats why i replace the batt every two years. i know that sounds very soon but i havent been stranded by a battery in more than 10 years.
