Handfull of Questions
New guy here with a few questions. I've been reading all the posts in the 2nd gen Durango section foe a week or two looking for all the info I can absorb.Girlfriend bought a used 05 Durango with the Hemi, it has the rear DVD and I'm unsure if it's the RAR or the RAQ radio, not really sure how to tell them apart as the pictures look the same & the manual is pretty useless.
Question 1: I grabed the parts manual & the FSM off of one of the threads here, looked up the Sirius SAT reciever & antenna part #'s. What I'm looking for is do I need the antena or will any Sirius antenna work? I only ask because every vehicle we own has had Sirius and there are a few of the antennas laying around. Also the dealer isn't doing me any favors on the price of the antenna or the reciever for that part.
Question 2: Some of the information I have read states that if you have the rear DVD and the Sirius SAT you won't be able to use the Mopar IPod interface kit? Does anyone have any experience with this? We're planning a considerable road trip in this vehicle & trying to shoot for as many entertainment options for everyone (mostly the kids).
Question 3: I've been reading the posts telling folks to go to Radio Shack for the headphones for the DVD system, the problem I'm finding with that is the ones from Radio Shack are about the same price as the dealer and their HUGE. Do any of the people who have gone through a few pairs have any suggestions as there are 3 kids sitting back there. Three pairs is a considerable chunk of change knowing that at least one of them is going to be broken before the trip is over.
Any help or information is greatly appreciated.

I don't have all the answers, but here is what I CAN tell you...
AM/FM/cassette/6CD/MP3 (RAK sales code)
AM/FM/6CD/MP3 (RAQ sales code)
AM/FM/6CD (RAR sales code) - export only
AM/FM/CD (REF sales code)
AM/FM/6CD/MAP/DVD/GPS Navigation (REC sales code) - export only
Best place I've seen for the factory/OEM head sets is e-Bay (unfortunately). Check outthe seller "headphone professional". He sells 'slightly used' pairs (2 sets of headphones) for $88.88 + 14.95 S&H. It comes out to about $52 per set, which is better than $110+ from the dealer.
Hope this helps!

Ok, after further investigation I've determined that it is the RAQ version (DUH...it's written on the head unit it's self, I totally missed it). We did manage to find the headphones as stated on Ebay. But I'm still left with the questions concerning the IPod integration kit and the need to disconnect other devices, as well as if the antenna on the factory Sirius unit needs the HUGE antenna that comes with it (if I don't need it the module is a whole lot cheaper). I appreciate the reply, and am willing to listen to anyone else's infor on these questions as well.
if you have both nav and sat it will work. If you don't have the sat, the ipod show as the sat tab.
I have the non mopar option and it uses the sat input only when the ipod is attatched. when not attatched it plays the sat. The only issues, you will not be able to save your favorite sat presets, the ipod unit trashes them. also the non mopar unit will not display the song info from the ipod.
