2006 Durango won't start when hot
I have an 06 5.7 Hemi Durango that after it gets up to running temp it can't restart until it cools down (an hour later). I had it to the local Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep "5*" dealer and they told me it was the fuel pump. After waiting four days for the new fuel pump to come in they replaced it. I picked it up and the same thing happens again.
Any thoughts?
BTW, It's back to the dealer again!
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a computer or sensor issue. When it does not start, what DOES it do?
Will it turn over?? You need fuel, spark, and compression for things to run. Take away any one of the three, and no worky.
At least it is still under warranty, so you won't have to worry about the bill. Did they give you a loaner?????

When it starts it runs fine. No hesitations or anything. When it's at running temp and shut it off and I try to restart it turn's over and appears to start for a split second, then shuts down. After it cools down it starts again.
I had it taken to the dealer today on a rollback and had them run it while they transported it so it would be running temp when it got there. The dealer had it all day and told me they couldn't repeat the problem. I find that hard to believe because everytime I have the Durango it wont restart.
The dealer told me there were no error codes in the computer either.
The dealer I bought it from is out of business and the dealer doing the service work is reluctant to provide me a vehicle.
It's frustrating!!

Sounds like you need to go for a good drive, and make your destination the dealer. When you get there, shut it off and pray that it will not start.
Could be an issue with your sentry key system. Does the security light come on when this happen??? Also, have you tried to start it with another key?? It almost sounds like the security system is not recognizing the key code, then shutting the motor off.

I had a diesel that did the exact same thing. Would start every time and run fine when cold but once hot it would not start again. Turned out to be the head and rotor clearance on the injection pump. I replaced the IP and worked right every since. Obviously your problem isn't going to an IP but it does sounds fuel related and could be the throttle body or computer.
