Default '04 Hemi Electric Draw

Please Help: I purchased a used '04 Hemi Durango loaded. It has had a problem with the battery randomly being drawn dead in as little as five hours. I have had it to two dealers, and a computer specialist. No one can find a draw. I have installed two new batteries. The only thing that seems to affect it is when the outside temperature changes. I have now installed a shut off switch on the battery to insure it will start for me. Any ideas and/or suggestions where to start?

It aint right. We have our original battery on our 04 Limited. This is with a 2400W peak inverter connected to it. We ran #2 welding cable from the battery to the back to install a 2 tray Laser printer for my wife's mobile office.

Try another dealer if still under warranty, look for a 5 star.

Maybe somebody could pipe in on what the actual current draw is when everything is OK and your truck turned off? Then you could measure yours, I am sure there is some load due to maintaining the capacitors and CPU memories active. Which begs the question, has your engine been driving normal since using the disconnect?

Debo:

You have quite a task o your hands.

You will need to aquire some type of current measuring meter that you can put inline with your battery. This tester will go in series with the battery, not across it.

When you have established how much current is being drawn, you can then carefully begin to remove fuses one at a time until the current stops. At this point, you will have located the offending circuit.
Then you can start investigating to see if you have a failing part, or possibly a wire that is rubbing somewhere causing a partial short.

These kinds of problems are never fun, and usually no easy. But you will feel great once you find the source.
