Durango Engine fan wont switch off after engine switched off.
Hi,
Recently took my Durango 2007 5.7 lt HEMI for off road in the desert.
After switching off the engine, the engine fan kept on going, some friend told me that this is a feature that if the engine is hot the fan will cool it off till the thermostat goes down.
The fan went on till one hour and in panic I removed the battery and it got switched off.
Later again I started and switched off and the fan also got switched off.
Anybody sense any problem or just a normal behavior.
Plz help.
Many Thanx.

i'd guess either a temperature sensor or a relay is faulty. i had a dodge caravan once with electric fan and it would run maybe 5 or 10 minutes after shutting it off. not 1 hour.
you can test for voltage at the relay in the pdc, or simply swap the fan relay w/one that looks just like it. i don't know how to test the temp sensor.

it sounds like an electric cooling fan, and yes they are supposed to run for a while after you shut it off, like said above, maybe 10 or 15 min MAX, could be a faluty tempsensor on the fan, or the relay not shutting off, but my frist thing would be to make sure that the contacts were all clean, and tha the temp sensor did NOT have any dir ot anything on it preventing it from functioning correctly, id start w/ the cheap stuff and then go to the more expensive stuff
