Default 2005 Durango 4.7 mods?

Ok, new guy here. I've had my Durango about 2 years. I almost traded it in for a P/U, but decided to stick with it and try to spruce it up a bit. I am totally stock right now. D is a daily driver with 60k on it. I would love to improve my lousy gas mileage a bit. I was thinking cold air intake as I have seen others suggest on here, but looking for more advice. How about exhaust? Is there a direct bolt on muffler that will improve performance and sound like it has some nuts but not be overwhelming? Magnaflow or Flowmaster? Anything else you would suggest?

I tried clicking on the DIY thread, but the link is a loop and never takes you there...

Magnaflow or Flowmaster are both good. The Gen2 has a muffler and another muffler. Cut them both out, add the new one of your choice and go on. The sound will increase greatly so don't over do it with a really loud unit out of the gate. You will hate it.

On a Gen1, I would recommend the Series 50 SUV (NOT the Delta.) Compare and contrast and enjoy.

go to the 3rd gen dakota section, all of us are running the 2005 or later 4.7 there are plenty of posts that have upgrade info. first off, do you have the trucks build sheet? if not, go to the dealer and get one. you may be running the 3.55 gear ratio, this will make the truck a dog, swap them out for a nice 4.10 set like what i did. $1600.00 not cheap, but what you are gonna spend on engine upgrades will be close to $1000.00 or even $1200.00, so just save the money and do the swap, it will be the best mod you can get out of the 4.7, tuner $300.00, intake $250.00, catback $300.00, list is endless, 1/2 way there already
