2005 D - Trailer wiring location.
Hello-
I've got a 2005 D, with the tow package. The trailer wiring is not all working (have no right turn/right brake at either plug). I figured easy enough, I'd get under there, and trace the trailer wiring to where it plugs into the D's wiring, and go from there, knowing my D's lights are all working fine. BUT, easier said than done...I started this expecting there would be a plug right behind the bumper or above the spare, but it *appears* this wiring goes all the way to the drivers side front, on the frame, behind the tire?? Is this right, or did I miss a 'turn in the road' while tracing the wires forward?
Any help is appreciated!!

Check the fuses under the hood in the power distribution box. THere should be one for towing.
The classic is that everything is fine and then you pulg into a trailer that has a bad wire and grounds the circut blowing the fuse and leaving you there trying to figure it out. The other place to look is at the plug harness. There is a connection point so you can replace the plug only on the truck. Feel on the back of the plug and you should feel it. Check for moisture and corrosion.

And yes...you are correct. The towing harness/wiring runs the length of the D...from the rear to the front! I have to install the factory after-the-fact harness on mine and was scoping all this out just recently!!!
Agreed with hydra...your problem is most likely with the trailer's wiring or the plug.

Thanks guys!. You were right on the money - once I found the right fuse box, there was one blown. Replaced it, and now I have lights at the back of the D. Trailer had a messy/trashed plug, so I replace/rewired that and now have lights there too! I'm sure the trailer was the reason for the original fuse issue.
Thanks for the responses!
