Default 06 satellite radio distortion

I have an 06 durango with the nav/satellite radio package. I have been getting distortion (not to be mistaken for lost signal) and heavy feedback on every channel about 50% of the time.

According to Sirius this is a problem with the radio. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And what did you do to fix it.

I got an 05 Sirrius sat 6 disc changer oem dodge radio, I bought a month sat service,

sound quality sucked, real lo-fi, sounded like I was listening through a tin can and string.

Like a ching ching sounding echo especially on cybols in music. I think it's the service

provider's signal or use of low bitrate recordings because the system sounds really good

on FM and excellent on cd. Your stock radio if it's the same as mine will play mp3 cds

and I've been able to cram 70 + songs on 1 disc times that by 6 and you can have

about 420 songs on tap with no sound quality loss and no monthly sub to pay.

Sirruis tried to tell me my issue was due to where I live, I beg to differ, from Las Vegas

Nevada all the way to Los Angeles California the same sub par sound quality.

I have Sirius in my 2007 Durango and it sounds great. I think it is 120 bit rate which is better sounding than a mp3. I would encode your music at 240 bit rate or higher as it sounds better at the expense of space if you are going to play it in the vehicle. As for the distortion, your receiver (on top of vehicle) may have been damaged. Also, I am have Alpine speakers compared to Pioneer (earlier models) which could effect the sound quality. Take it to the dealer or the installer and have them look at it. They should do this free of charge unless it needs replaced,
