Default front seat airbag?

We have been told that the frt passenger seat has a sensor that will turn the airbag off if there is not enough weight in the seat to make the airbag work safely. Is this true, there is nothing said about this in the owners manual (is this true). We were also told that there is and icon that will appear indicating the airbag will not function, but no one can tell us were the icon will appear (there is nothing in the manual about this either).

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

There is no light to tell you what you are asking. The air bag light will come on when there is a problem. If you sit something on the seat other than a human you will probely turn on the air bag light and have to have the seat recalabrated chrysler changed the sys after a couple years so you would not have to do that. But your wife's purse will set it off and warr wont cover the recal but the dealer may. I sat a scan tool on the pass seat and went for a road test then I had to recal the seat nice sys lol
