Default 2005 Durango problem...need help??

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango SLT with a 4.7L engine and is 4x4. I have been experiencing a thud every time I let off the gas and then get back on the gas. It is extremely annoying! I have had to my local Dodge dealership about 6 times for the same problem. They have taken the transmission apart and replaced the torque converter and put it back together and it is still doing the same thing. Does anybody have any suggestions???

Check the motor mounts as they will cause the vehicle to 'shake' once put into gear,

The dealership that I bought the vehicle from said that they checked the u joint, but it's going in again on Monday and that is one of the things that they are going to check. The vehicle makes a thud every time I let off the gas and then get back on the gas. The dealership said that was normal. It seems to me that would be a huge engineering flaw on Dodge's part if that were normal. What do you think? Thanks for your help. Nate

I noticed with mine that sometimes if you let off the gas just as it is shifting gears it will make a SLIGHT jolt,

Not normal.

Why jump to conclusion it is an engineering fault? Fairly far stretch there.

Default 2005 Durango with thud

So, you don't think this is normal? The only reason I jumped to an engineering flaw was because my dealership repair shop said that they spoke to Dodge directly and they said it was "normal." Like I said before, I owned a 2005 Durango once before and that one did not have the same issues as this one. I don't think that it's normal. Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Anything that you could offer would be helpful. Thanks.

This is a common complaint. Try a search in the black menu bar at the top th read other threads about a drivetrain 'thump',
