My durango slt 2004 tailgate lock is not engaging? The tailgate lock motor is making a noise when I press my remote lock. (tailgate) The lock itself is not moving?(tailgate) Any ideas as to what may be the problem? The latch is not opening or closing?(don't know why)

 

Take the plastic panel off and clean the mechanism. You will see it all corroded up from water that gets in there.
