2004 Durango Limited - NEED HELP
Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this forum and forums in general quite honestly. I'm hoping someone can help me out.
I have a 2004 Durango Limited with 100k miles on it. Lately there seem to have been some transmission issues, though it appears to be electronic since the only time it (see below) really happens is when I apply the brake. I can reset the issue after I turn the car off and back on, but it was sporadic initially but happens more often now. The check engine light has been on the whole time its started.
Basically what happens is after I drive for a little bit I'll apply the brake when slowing down and a big "clunk" shift seems to happen. Then it seems to not want to shift back in first nor does it shift into fifth. When resuming driving it's takes forever to speed up, and once you're up to 55 or so the RPM's stay around 3000 and fails to shift into the last gear (I assume 5th).
I had the codes read and one of them says its a selenoid issue with the transmission, but I brought it to a transmission guy and he said there's nothing wrong, hence the reason I think its electrical.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, is it a sensor of some kind that's needed? I'm told it could be a speed sensor or something.
I'd rather not over pay for something here.

Do Pyros key dance and post your codes in the second generation Durango section as this is the general forum:
