The MIL light is on in my car, I tried doing the key off-on thing and it worked once but I wasn't able to get the code. Then I tried again and I am not able to get to work. The time that it worked, it took me a long time. Could someone please help me out with this?

 

Did any codes show on the odometer when you did the key trick? Autozone can pull codes for free or a small fee,

The one time that worked yes, but it took me forever for it to come up. I wasn't able to get the complete code becuase I accidently put the key back to off, so the code was gone. I tried to do it again many times with no luck.
