Default Here is a stumper??

I have a 2004 Durango, 4.7L, 164,000miles. End of Last summer the check engine light would come on and the engine would surge at idle up and down. Also the transmission would shift real inconsistant while this was happening. After about two days of constant use it would all go away and come back a couple of weeks later. Then it got cold in the winter and the problem never happened again. Well, low and behold the weather has gotten warm again and the problem came back today. Check engine light and engine idles up and down with the check engine light...I know I should get the light read and will later this week but wanted to see if anyone else has had anything similar.

Thanks.

Hughes;

I call it a bad TPS or throttle postion sensor. This part is a known issue on the 4.7 engines, and will cost you $40 and take about 15 minutes to replace.
