Default Hemi Overheating

Guys, I need your help!

I bought my Durango Hemi in 2008 @ Dubai with Gulf Specs. I assume that is the same as the tow package....

The temp gauge as been always like this:

Last week, the auxiliary fan stopped working. Took it to the dealer and they changed the fan relay. Now, every time I start the engine when its cold, the temp will rise like the photo below and than go back down to normal.

The car has been for the last 2 days at the dealer and they want to convince me that this is a normal behavior for engine. But since I bought the car (brand new), it never did this.

Any comments?

Did they use a different spec on the parts they replaced?

Were the parts factory original replacements or aftermarket?

It was an original relay.

Anyway, I guess the problem is at the auxiliary fan. In the last 4 months the relay was replaced 3 or 4 times. The first times, the fan wasn't stopping. Last week the fan wasn't starting......

Ricardo:

Something has changed for sure. Looks like the fan is not coming on as soon as it used to thus allowing the temp to go higher before coming on. My 2004 has always run just below the middle point unless I idle it in very hot weather for quite a while. Then, it will go up a couple needles widths above the middle.

The two 2005 Durangos we had at work with 4.7 motors were the same as mine. Looks like they are not done yet!

I have a low temperature thermostat on my Durango and just drove six hours in 85 - 95 degree heat (went to New Jersey) and the needle never moved past a quarter from the bottom,

Thanks for the help

Got the car back. I guess they changed the t-stat. They told me that there is a TSB regarding the fan's electric wire. The part was ordered and they'll call me as soon as they receive it.

The needle now looks like this
