wifes 05 durango, slt, 4.7 v8. After driving, and park... i smell antifreeze. just enough to catch my attention. temp gauge is fine, coolant level is fine, no visible drips or steam under the hood, no drips of puddles under the vehicle. Anyone have any ideas how to trouble shoot this one... or guide me.
any help would be much appreciated!

Check the weep tube from the AC and Heat housing. Should be just above the under roll of the firewall on the passengers side. Bet you see tinges of green/yellow from the antifreeze. When so, you have a heater core that is bad (has a small hole in it.)
Second thing to look at is the peak very closely around the stat housing. Any color there? If so, there is your leak... dripping on a hot motor giving you a tiny smell.
One or the other are the usual suspects.

water pump indeed. after a closer look, i did see wet below the pump. i assumed it was the seal going. i also noticed a "squeal" coming from one of the belt wheels (so i think). i replaced the water pump all together. not a bad job at all. seems to be dry, now. still having noise; sounds like a bearing grinding in one of the wheels. i replaced the tensioner wheels; seemed like thats where the noise was coming from. noise is still there. the fan blade & clutch seemed to twist smoothly... felt stiff, but still moved smooth and no noticable play. is there a way to tell where the noise is coming from, easily? alternator, etc. this is another new road for me... any guidance would be helpful again!!! and much appreciated for the previous help!!

mileage is 65k or so. if it the compressor bearing, does the whole compressor need to be pulled? or can the wheel just be replaced - like the tensioner wheels? i appreciate the help.
