Default Gas is killing me!! any ideas?!?!?

hey guys, Gas is killing me.. I live in very hilly, 6500 ft above sea level, colorado springs and barely getting 12 MPG in the city. Now I knew gas was going to be an issue but I guess reality is setting in. I have stock 04 durango with the HEmi. SO I am looking for ideas and actual stats if you have them for anyone that can elaborate on fun little gadgets and extras I can add to the Hemi. I know K&N would be a good buy but do I need the whole cold air intake system? Is it really worth it?
AND anyone know about exhaust systems? I would like a dual look with a throaty sound but I am not sure how that is really going to save gas.. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions on that? Well gotta go fill up. I'll check back later. Thanks!!

1. Move to Wyoming, gasoline is much cheaper than Colorado.
2. I drove down to Rock Springs WY, 7000ft EL got 17-18mpg on the interstate.

I have an 04 Hemi D with no mods.

Well I know we arent talking apples to apples here....I live in Ohio where of course the terrain is flat an average 21.5 on the highway and just over 16 in town. Have the 4.7 and have added the pop in KandN filter which did help a little. I know if I had the terrain you do my mileage wouldnt be as good but I am very pleased with the Durango so far. My 2000 Durango didnt do nearly as well as the new one does with the same engine. It only averaged 17 highway and 12 in town and the ride was much more trucky. Kent
