Default 2009 Dodge Durango Side Rails

Hello-

I just recently purchased my '09 Durango and one of the options I had put on was the chrome nerf bars from Mopar. When I got the vehicle home I noticed that the mounting assembly that the bars were attached to were very visible and it looks quite ugly. Now I have seen lots of vehicles with nerf bars or any other side rail and there is always that small piece of moulding at the bottom to cover up this assembly. I'm in contact with the dealership which is so far telling me that there is no moulding because the moulding that comes standard with the vehicle is supposed to go into the same holes as the rails so they threw them away. If someone could help me that would be fantastic.

thanks

I installed the OEM running boards on my 07 and had to remove a greyish rubber strip that covered the holes. With the OEM boards, you don't put the strip back on.

I have never seen standard nerf bars on any brand of any vehicle with that mounting assembly exposed. In my opinion it's ugly. I know that if I went with a standard OEM product from another website that my options would be few, but these were mopar rails from whatever distributor the dealership uses. The dealership had them in stock so I had them put on. I have nerf bars on my 2004 ford pick up and that assembly is not visible. At any rate, I showed the pictures to the dealership and they think it's wrong as well and they are the one's that installed it. One way or the other they are going to have the moulding on and chrome bars on.

Update: Dealership still has my moulding and they have ordered a set of 3" Mopar Nerf Bars and everything will be replaced free of charge. All in all I am pleased.
