05 Durango wont start?
I searched for this problem in the other threads but couldnt find an answer. My fuel pump is not working. Thought I would just replace it and be fine, wrong. No power getting to it. I checked all fuses and relays, all were good. I ran a code diagnostics on it and it came up with no problems. I'm getting power to the relay , so I think the FCM may be bad. Anyone agree or have any other suggestions?
I had the same problem with my 2005 Durango 5.7. It wouldn't start and the fuel pump would not come on. I dropped the tank and pulled old pump out just to find out it was still working when hooked straight to battery. Checked all fuses and relays and they all were working fine. Finally saw online something about the key messing up and decided to hit it on the wall a couple of times and then it started right up. But now my radio isn't working, the interior lights only come on when the switch is on, the doors won't lock or unlock unless the switch is on and the door closed, if the doors are locked manually with key the key won't unlock the door. Not sure what is going on. Any help would be very helpful.
I finally had to bring it to the dealership and they told me it was the fuel pump. I didn't agree with them because I already tested that option and the fuel pump was good, just not getting power. But they advised the mechanic was getting power, so I didnt argue with them and told them to just go ahead and fix it. They also told me my injectors were dirty so the cost was $874.00 for the repair ( compared to my 183.00 cost for the fuel pump I was going to install). Anyways, two days later and I get a call from the dealership that there was another problem. They told me the "block" was bad and had to be replaced. After speaking to the mechanic he explained it as the front control module being "burnt" from electrical backfeed from the fuel pump. Exactly what I had explained to them in the first place. So now I had to get that component replaced to make the total $1481.00. Thats not the bad news. The FCM is on NATIONAL backorder and wont be in until Oct. 4 at the earliest. Dodge dealership has had my car for almost a month now!!! They won't do a damn thing for me as far as a loaner vehicle or some type of discount. Meanwhile I am without a vehicle. I feel if there is a NATIONAL backorder on this part, there must be a recall in order!!!! Anyone else having an issue like this? By the way, there were a total of three recalls that had to be done to this vehicle already. ( instrument cluster, fuel tank and the check valve for the fuel tank.) I am about FED UP!
