The other day I shifted into reverse and felt a clunk before it started to move, that was the first time I ever heard it and have not heard it since. I was checking the driveshaft today and noticed that there is some play in it (not in and out but rotation wise about 1/4")
Can you tell me if this is normal? Could this be the cause of the "clunk"?

its the play is in the joint... yes and if its a 1/4" inch play in your joint you best be changing it before you get stranded on the side of the road when that thing breaks loose
