transmission slipping??
First off I would like to say hello as I'm new here... and I already have a problem...
Mule: 2004 Durango 4.7L AWD 5 spd. w/ 152K
I have been expiriencing a situation with my Durango on the highway... Initially I had expierienced what would feel like gear slippage @ 60-70mph and a loss of performance.. I would be cruising @ 2K rpm and the rev counter would fluctuate 3-400 rpm up along with the feeling as if the transmission is hunting for gears 4-5th.. (check engine light is on) I took it to Ammco transmission as the local dealer is crap by me, and it came back with a hard code for the down draft 02 sensor. I had them replace it to the tune of $277..to only find out the sensor was $58... They also checked the trans fluid and the said it was fine and to level Moreso.. IT was suggested it needed plugs but declined for the moment since they wanted $300 additional. The truck ran fine for 2 weeks then the check engine light came on again... I went ahead and did the plugs, PCV valve as well as cleaned the T Body and drove it. The power came back straight away as new.. 1 day... and then the dreaded slippage came back but worse.. now it slips with cruising @ 70mph but feels like it's really hunting now accompanied by surging at idle from 7-1000rpm and what feels as it it is pulling (driving) on it's own.. It also hunts now at lower speeds 30-40mph in city driving...
Is there anything to look for before I go back to the shop?? sensors, ECM, valves?? Condemn the transmission?? replace the transmission filter and fluids?? Additives?

It was just for the Downdraft 02 sensor.. It hasn't come back on after Ammco installed it and reset it...
Update...
I did install a new aftermarket TPS and "viola!!" The truck went back to the normal everyday happiness.. Along with replacing the plugs and the PCV valve.. Power and torque is back as when new....

Hello, i had similar problem today, except that there were no check engine lite on, i felt like it could be the trnas becouse i felt that at 60mph it was triying to change gears back and forward, and when i stoped at every stop sign it stalled, then after a few tries it would start again, then after driving straight freeway the problem disapear..the only thing diferente is that a touhgt it could be bad fuel and let it run down to 1/4 before fillit with 91...please help me. what are your thoughts on this ?
