Sorry for the old reply to this thread but I am experiencing the same problem. Dealer told me nothing to flash. I don't believe them. Has anyone solved this?

Sorry to hear you're having issues.
I can't imagine your dealer would avoid performing repairs to your vehicle, even in the form of a flash update.
Was your Durango physically inspected?

Agreed. Need more info. Why did the dealer tell you that? What veghicle are you referring to? Year? Engine? Transmission?

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. Yes took it to the dealer. The truck is a 2004 Durango Limited with 5.7 hemi. Dealer told me that it had the most recent flash and the software wouldn't allow a forced update. They had me talk to the tech directly in the service bay. He showed me the starscan software system directly.


What really upset me is the service tech told me I should sell the vehicle and buy something new.



The dealership I took the truck into was Pattison Dodge/Chrysler in Surrey, BC.

Sell a vehicle for a CEL??? More and more useless service departments these days! FCA needs to hire an old school ASE tech like me as a liason to get on these dealers and have them actually do physical diagnostics instead of just plugging a computer in the port!!!

It is important in these current PCM/ECM vehicles to keep D/C to them when changing the battery. I always clamp my jump box to the leads before disconnecting the battery and take them off after tightening the new battery down. Those inexpensive units you plug into the cigarette lighter/inboard 12V source also do the trick quite well. Another plus is you won't have to reprogram stations back into the radio...
