Default 2006 4.7 idling prob 4.7

Got a 2006 dodge durango 4.7 that for the last couple of weeks when i turn it on mainly in the mornings it idles up and down for like 20 seconds anywhere from 500 to around 1500 rpm.
once i start to drive it its normal. Any ideas what could this be? im thinking a sensor? how much to replace? tks

Is this something that anyone can do or better just to take it to dealer?

Any mechanic can change out the sensor. The dealer should be avoided unless it is under warranty,

Could also be a dirty Idle Air Control Valve. Try cleaning it first. If not, you may need a new one.

It's one plug, two Torx 20 or 25 bolts and it pops right off. I think mine cost me around $45 at the parts store.

Easy fix and worth trying.

While you are at it, have the battery load tested to rule out any issues there. A faulty battery can cause all kinds of issues including the ones you are seeing.
