Default 2006 Durango Idling Problem

I have a 2006 Durango and it was idling at about 1200 rpms so I replaced the TPS. Took it for a test drive and everything was back to normal. At the end of the drive the problem was back. Now it is idling between 1500 and 1700 rpm. Help!!!!!!

Welcome to the site. I will move this thread to the second generation Durango section. How many miles are on the Durango as it may need a tune up(change plugs, egr valve)?,

I have the same year durango and mine the rpm goes up and down between 550 up to 1000 and sometimes ip to 1600 this goes on for about 20 to 30 seconds ! I will take it to the mechanic to replace the tps like you did hopefully that will take care of that

Well I have replaced the IAC and everything is back to normal. I spent about 120.00 in all and about 3hrs. Saving gas and transmission! Save money, do it yourself!

Cheers!

Renzo and others:

When you first start your Hemi, how high do the rpms go before they drop back down and level off?

Mine seems to want to hit 1800-2000, then settles down to around 6-700.

Wonder if my IAC needs to be cleaned?

Don

I'm having similar problems with idling. I notice the engine runs very rough (even stalling at times) when going through a automated car wash. Also, if it's raining hard outside, and sitting at a stop light, the RPM's jump around alot, 600-1000 and sounds like it's going to stall.

Should I start with replacing the TPS or IAC?
