I'm buying a Tige 22v wakeboard boat. The boat weighs about 4,000 lbs plus the trailer. The tandem trailer has four tires and brakes.

Does anyone know the towing capacity for our 2006 Durango with a 4.7L V8, 4wd?

Also, I had a hitch installed a few years ago that will accommodate the boat/trailer. However, will I need to install the "trailer tow prep package"?

The drive/tow from the boat dealer to the lake is about 150 miles. And, since the boat storage facility is about 1 mile from the boat launch, future towing will be limited.

dude, give it a while you posted this morning, its only been maybe 8 hours, we do NOT sit around waiting for questions to be posted, we have lives, we dont mind helping out, but you cannot expect an instantaneous answer, i dont know the numbers for the second gen trucks, the first gen trucks would pull 5400lbs with the 4.7 and the tow package, im sure the second gen is different, but i couldnt tell you by how much, now you need to chill out and patiently wait for an answer from someone who has the manual to look it up for you.

 

The V6 can tow trailers up to 3,700 pounds. The 4.7 with two wheel drive can handle up to 7,400 lb (5,900 lb with the 3.55 axle ratio), while the Hemi can handle 8,950 lb (7,400 with the 3.55 axle). The 3.7 is only available with the 3.92 axle. Four wheel drive cuts back on towing by 100 lb for the 4.7, and around 200-250 lb with the Hemi. These towing figures all require the Trailer Towing Group to be purchased; otherwise, the Durango can only tow 2,000 pounds.Read more at http://www.allpar.com/model/durango-...ktrack=kcplink
