2007 Dodge Durango Parking Brake Light stays on...
A few weeks ago when releasing the parking brake the release lever broke apart from the rod. So now I have to manually pull the rod to release the parking brake until I get a new release lever.
Soon there after when I start the car (especially when it is cold in the morning) when I release the parking brake the instrument panel light goes off, but within a few seconds the light comes back on and I get the "ding" like I do when the check engine light comes on. This brake light would eventually go off after driving for a while.
Now it is getting worse on staying on. It then went to sometimes coming on when making right curves and turns even when not touching any brakes. Now it just stays on all the time.
I have checked all fluids and brake pads, and they all look fine. I feel no issues when braking, but the manual says that the "parking brake' light on the instrument panel only tells you that the parking brake is on and nothing more, so I am not sure the brake light staying on signifies any other error since the manual says this.
At this point I am thinking it is a loose wire or faulty sensor down where the release lever broke off. Any thoughts?
