Default EVAP system troubles

I just bought an 06 Durango SLT AWD a couple of months ago. I had the gas tank overflow issue and had the dealer replace the filler neck, evap canister and eventually the fuel tank itself. They said that they replaced all of the lines too. A couple of days after they finished all of that, I got the "gascap" message in the odometer window. I went bought a new gas cap, but I'm still getting the "gascap" message and the scanner read p0457 and p0440.
I'm eventually going to take it back and get them to fix it, but, will driving with these codes and an obvious problem with the EVAP system cause any damage to anything? Also, would this create issues with the vehicles performance or economy? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I got a call from the mechanic at the dealership (auctiondirectusa) and he said that he had been researching the problem with another mechanic. The two of them figured it's the PCM!!! It's under warranty so I'll let them replace it and see what happens.

Well took my big blue "D" to another mechanic yesterday morning only to find out that there was a vaccum hose that wasn't connected. Just like I thought the first time. Oh, well. At least that blasted check engine light is off now.
