2007 Durango - How do I know if there is a performance chip installed?
Does it idle at 1500 RPM then go back down to ~600 after a minute? Mine does that, pretty sure it's normal.
I also can barely get 17MPG on the highway going 80mph when fully loaded and I have a tuner. I wish they gave us an economy light like the new Ram's that tell when MDS kicks on. I'm pretty sure you can add an aftermarket light, the LX guys do it.
Could also be the winter blend gas. Most people say they notice a hit.
Do both Durangos have the 3.55 axle? Both rwd or AWD/4x4?

For all you guys that are not getting the 19MPG, please remember that the conditions for the 19MPG is very specific, 70 degrees; 65 MPH; No air conditioning; one person in the vehicle. If you are driving about 80 MPH expect the MPG to go down quickly. MDS has a very hard time keeping the cylinders off above 72-74 MPH. Around town I get the advertised 13 MPG and have gotten as high as 21 MPG sustained on a trip to Atlanta from Jacksonville, FL. It was cool so no AC, and we set cruise at 65 for most of the way. (We did move up to 70MPH on I-10 west as there are only two lanes and we didn't want to block traffic) My digital readout actually had an average of 22MPG but we calculted at the pump at 21.2 MPG.
In short better mileage with slightly slower speed.

As Indy points out, there can be many variables between two vehicles even right when they roll off the assembly line.
Tires can also make a quite a difference in economy if one vehicle has a set that have a much higher rolling resistance or are bigger/heavier.
Do you tend to enjoy the power of your Hemi frequently, or do you usually set the cruise and tool down the road.
Once you get above 50mph, any increase in speed gives you quadruple the wind resistance if I recall correctly.
My 04 Hemi without MDS usually returns 16-17 hwy, but I have bumped 18 a couple of times.
I have heard tales of folks getting 20-21 mpg in a 4x2 D with the Hemi and MDS system.
Folks with the Hemi in their Chargers and Challengers have found that with a heavy right foot, the MDS spends more time off than on.
