Almost exactly what I was thinking! It took 5 years for the original one to start to bubble. Hopefully, I can take better care of this one, and will last longer. I am wondering if Colorado's DOT use of magnesium chloride as an anti-icing agent on roads is the cause. I need to better protect this new one.

I think I am jinxed. First I read about the 2007 gas overflow on the 2005 overflow thread and then mine started to make a blowhole. Now my grille is peeling in the middle. I had Putco stainless inserts in place of the black plastic louvers, but now the whole grille needs replaced after four years,

Join the club. My D just had its fuel tank replaced to fix the re-fueling spill.

Ordered my new grill off eBay for $80. It's the same one that is being replaced, and will probably have to replace it in a few years again, unless I figure out a good way to take care of it.

What? I'm not the only one with this problem? Mine just started doing it to on my 06 Limited. The entire top of the grill is bubbling up. At first I thought it was ice on the grille. Checked with Dodge on this since it's under warranty and they offered to cover 20% of the cost of replacing it ($426.00 is the cost). Nothing like them covering their vehicles is there.

Personally, I'll keep fighting for the gas tank issues and maybe they'll fix that.

The gas tank should be covered by your warranty, if you purchased the extended warranty. I had to pay $100 to get the fuel tank replaced. However, the grill is not covered under the plan I purchased (despite being told different when I bought it back in 2006). But, at least the fuel tank was covered ($700+ if I had to pay it myself). That more than paid for the the extended warranty.

Look on eBay for a new grill. From the directions I found on the 'Net, it looks easy to replace. My new grill should be here tomorrow, but I won't replace it until spring.

This is the one I bought on eBay:

Yeah, if you didn't purchase a "Chrysler Service Contract" at the time of purchase back in 2006, then it won't be covered because the original warranty was 3 year/36,000 miles. Best we all can hope for is that Dodge will be forced to initiate a recall, and we can all be refunded the money spent.

I know this thread is old, but I just noticed the grille on my 2006 Durango is peeling as well. I am looking at the Putco grilles, but my fear is that they will not cover the area that is peeing on my vehicle. The outer "chrome" ring around my grille is what is peeing (in two different spots). I have not been able to find any pictures or videos showing any of the Puto grilles, so I am not sure if they are just inserts to cover the middle part, or will it cover the entire grille area. Can anyone help me out here? I like the prices of the Putco stuff, but I want to make sure it's going to cover up the peeling. If there is anything better out there, I'd love to know that as well! Thank you for the assistance.

I got one from the dealer a few months ago to replace my damaged one. THe 2004-2006 are different (more elliptical) than the 2007-2009 and most aftermarket companies can not seem to get it correct. Anyone interested in a 'bubbling' chrome grille with custom inserts?

I bought a OEM Dodge replacement grill from Amazon and took pictures of the replacement procedure. The pictures of my nasty bubbling grill and the replacement procedure are here:

Hope it helps someone else.
