Tire Size Options on 07 Ram w/20" Rims
My Dad has an 07 Durango 4x4 with the hemi. He has the stock 20" tires but doesnt like the "low sidewall" on the 265-50-20 (he almost 70) and wants to put a "real" tire on it. The folks at Tirekingdom told him that he could only put the 265-50-20 on those rims...which he didnt believe. Based on my searching on these forums I am leaning towards believing the Tirekingdom guy. He does a lot of towing (20 ft boat, large utility trailer) on the highway. Any suggestions on can he put a bigger tire or does he have to drop to 18" rims to get a bigger tire. Thanks
Some are running 285/50/20. a 31.3" tire or better yet a 275/55/50 a 31.9" I highly recommend Yokahama Parada Spec x. They are $145 for the 275/55
Or find someone looking for the 20's I just bought a set and sold my 18" I'm sure there is some one that would really like that trade.
He will feel the taller tires regardless of rim size, due to the change in the effective rear end gear ratio. 5000lbs and the hemi will handle it ok.
The Ram 275/60/20 will be a 33" tire and will need a little torsion bar lift but that will the limit.
