The 2009 has a MDS system along with variable valve timing to optimize fuel mileage and power which will be a bonus if it is compatible with the 2004,

Mopar:

I believe you are going to need to stay with an 04 or 05 engine if it comes from a Durango. Another fellow who lost an engine found an 06 engine from a Ram truck that did not have the MDS system.

That is your main factor to be aware of I think.

Labor to remove/install an engine in a Gen 2 D seems to be running $1800-$2200 bucks plus the cost of the engine.

What took your motor out? was it a dropped valve, or a rod through the side of the block?

Don
