Cats
Hi guys..just got my new after market cats on & my mechanic says the code is still coming on for the left cat. He thinks it's because the after market cats don't have enough of the precious metals!! I don't know enough about cats, I do know that thru the dealer they are way too much!!! I've moded many cars so I do know a little. Does anyone know if the cats from an earlier year, as long as it's still 2nd generation, would fit?? Or is there another Dodge product that has the same set up??? Has this happened to anyone else?? I also know it's illegal in some states to sell used cats. Does anyone know if it's all 50 states???

Why did you replace the cats to begin with? Were you trying to upgrade performance, or did they fail?
It's a pretty well known fact that the factory cats on our Durangos flow pretty well. Most folks who have replaced them with aftermarket looking for HP gains have reported little to no change.
The exception would be a super/turbo charged engine with enough increased airflow to overcome the stock system.
Your OEM cats are warrantied for 8 years and 80,000 miles BTW so if they died naturally Dodge will replace them for gratis.
