Ignition Issue
We just bought a 2006 Durango about 2 months ago and are having several issues. The instrument cluster along with everything else in the interior stopped working. Dodge claims that it was fixed during the recall, and will not fix it again.
When we first took it to the dealership they said it was an issue with the ignition. When you turn the key to the ON position the truck cranks by itself. They replaced the ignition and of course this didn't fix the issue. Now we are stuck paying for the ignition and getting a new cluster. Has anyone had similar issues?
Thanks,
ps. and we already had the fuel tank problem taken care of last month. Thanks for all the information on that issue. They really need a recall on that.

If they replaced a part that wasn't bad, I'd be bitching at the shop manager or owner of the dealership. Why did they replace something and are trying to charge you for it if there was nothing wrong with that part and it didn't fix the issue? (That would be the question I would pose to the dealership.)

+1 on what Jason said! You paid for a diagnosis and repair. If they diagnosed it wrong, and the repair did not fix it, they have more work to do.
Remember that being nice but firm is the way to go. If you get no satisfaction, crank it to the next level and contact Chrysler customer assistance.
They should open a case file four your issue. Continue to politely and firmly request assistance from them in working with the dealer.

Update, sorry so late posting.
The dealership said that the recall for the cluster was ready done on this truck and it wouldn't be covered again. I call Dodge and they said that it would or should be cover as long as it's the same part. So Dodge and the dealership talked and Dodge said the DM for the dealership denied the claim stating it wasn't the same thing???? WTH!!!!
They replaced the instrument cluster and we had to pay over $700. My wife drove the truck for one day out of town and the truck wouldn't crank anymore. They towed the truck back to the dealership and they then said it was the PCM.
So my question is what do I need to do to get my money back? Any advise on this would be very helpful.
Thanks,

First off, how many miles on the D? The pcm has an 8 year/80K Federally mandated warranty, so it will be FREE if you are still under 80K!
If the cluster did not fix the issue, I'd say they owe you some type of adjustment on the money you have already spent.
Re the ignition switch, did they replace the lock cylinder or the actual switch which is lower down on the column under the dash?
Sorry to hear you are having these issues. I would hope that the place you bought it from would be making some concessions to make sure you end up with a good buying experience.

The pcm was covered under warranty, but I feel like I got screwed on the paying for the other two items. I still confused as to why the cluster wasn't covered under the recall when Dodge said it should?
