04 5.7 Hemi Limited - RUST BUCKET
I am severly disappointed in my Durango. I have owned it since 2005 and have taken great care of it and it has no less than 7 rust spots. The back hatch has a rust spot that has rusted through. Never thought I'd spend $35,000 on a vehicle and have it rust this quickly! Runs amazing but the rust is killing it. NEVER ever will buy another Dodge product.

Laurie:
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. The Gen 2 Durango does have its rust areas just as the Gen 1s did. I would agree though that the rust seems to come on sooner on the 04 and up models.
I had an 01 until March of 2009, and there was not a spot of rust on it. My current 2004 has already had the driver side rear wheel well repaired TWICE!
Other spots as you have seen are the tail gate on either end of the handle, along with some seams on the hood.
A local owner here just paid a chunk to have the rear hatch replaced due to a fist sized hole on the right end of the handle.
Can you advise where all of your spots have appeared? Folks who are so far without it can keep an eye peeled for it.
Are you going to have any repairs made? I highly recommend Carstar as a good rust repair place.
They charged me $440 to repair my rear wheel well rust and paint my rear bumper pad.

I'd like you to define "taken great care of it". My wife's 2006 came from the Wisconsin area originally (lots of salt and water = rust), and it wasn't taken great care of cosmetically at some point in its life (a few tiny holes in the seats here and there), and it has only one rust spot that just developed a few days ago.
OP, yours is less than 7 years old so the Federal rust through warranty applies. Run, don't walk, to the dealer and make them fix it.
If it is surface rust and you exaggerated, that's not covered. If it has rust through to a hole, it's free!
