That is an interesting angle, since just about everything else has been addressed.

I own a 2004 Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi 4x4 Towing package. We just bough it a few monts back. Now the thing keeps getting to half-3/4 hot. It likes to be around 3/4 most of the time. If we are driving at full speed fora while it drops to mid, and also if we turn on the heat it drops to mid.

I have replaced :
Thermostat
Radiator Cap
Clutch Fan (just finished an hour ago)

What now?
Check for air? How do I check for air and remove it?
With your durango running do you see water movement in the radiator with the cap off? Mine sits still, but when I rev it up I see the water suck out and move alot. Water pump? I just want to know if you see movement when its idle?

Interesting...all of the same issues that I'm now having with mine. At this point, I'm inclined to believe that the problem is the radiator itself. Mine is OK if the outside temp is 85 or lower. Anything above that and the cooling efficiency of the radiator diminishes dramatically.

Having changed out everything but the radiator, now makes the radiator the prime suspect.

Problem solved...replaced radiator after having eliminated everyother possibility.

Which radiator did you replace? Was it the main or the a.c. radiator?

If you have any more issues with cooling try what I did. I have been towing a 12' Cargomate trailer with a tall profile with my 04 Durango with a 4.7 in it, I did a couple things to it before I started. And bear in mind there will be people who will argue that changing the thermostat is a bad idea, but I did it 2 years ago and have driven from northern California to Southern Baja about 10 times. Jet makes a cooler running thermostat that is a 180 I believe. Also there is an after market Radiator that has a higher capacity and between the 2 I have been able to make these trips successfully. I of course also run a schaffuer moly ep oil additive to keep the engine in good shape. Good maintenence I am sure is a big part of the why this has worked out too, and Prayer :P. Jegs and Summit should have a thermostat listed for your application. If I can do it with a 4.7 you should have no issues with the Hemi.

have your coolant system flushed. Radiators only leak or clog. If that doesn't fix the issue, get a new fan clutch. Hold off on the lower temp T-Stat until you figure out your overheat problem. If you own your D, get a loan for the repair, or you will be buying an new vehicle soon.

do you hear the fan roar at low speeds? If not, there is your problem.
