Keys Won't Start Car
I am posting this for my mom...
Key #1 failed about two years ago, not a big deal, she just started using the spare key.
The key fob on the 2nd key hasn't been working for close to a year. She has dealt with it and is now ridiculously fast at unlocking her car and putting the key in the ignition.
Now key #2 won't even start the car. The dealer says this is going to cost $200 to fix. Right now the car is in the driveway and isn't usable and we don't exactly have $200 to go get a new key right now.
Are there any easy/cheap fixes? Doesn't have to even be a longterm fix...

Sorry. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Sometime a hard lesson to learn.
When the first key failed, that was the time to get it fixed while using the spare. Now, it is time to go to the dealer.
With that said, $200 is a little high if they are just cutting a new key and programming the FOB. Question exactly what they are doing for you for the $$$. I think they are trying to make a few extra bucks unfairly.
