Durango '04 VES DVD regional change?
Hello. I have 04' Durango with original VES DVD system. I recently bought the car in Boston and shipped to Iceland. Here in Europe we use region [zone] 2 on DVD's.
Does anyone know how to change the region from zone 1 to 2 or if possible to open for all regions on the original VES system?
Regards from Iceland,
Niel.

No go on that one!!!!
It's possible to change region-code but it has to be done by the Manufacturer.
I contacted about and the following was returned.
"The rear seat entertainment system installed in the Durango and it is indeed programmed for Region 1 with a NTSC screen format. Unfortunately, I am unable to offer you a simple solution to your dilemma. While it is possible for me to re-program the DVD player to Region 2 here at the production plant , there is no way to change the screen format from NTSC to the required PAL. The screen format is built into the circuitry of the screen. If you burn copies of your original DVDs and eliminate the region code the player will play the DVD but the image will not be viewable due to the incompatible screen format."
I solved "our" problem by using Nero 6 to decode an entire DVD and delete all menu's and bonus material.
Thereafter using the selected dvd-material I burned a new DVD with selfmade menu and coded it to region 1 or regionfree but most important had it encoded to NTSC. Have done 3 movies (for the kids) sofor and everything is working quite nice.
Good Luck on this one!!!
