Question 2006 Limited CD Changer problems

I just purchased a repo 2006 Limited and the CD changer is not working. It is the radio/6 disc changer/navigation/VES combo. It acts as if there are discs stuck inside. It tries to cycle as if it's trying to eject but just cycles and grinds for ever. The only way to get it to stop is to pull the fuse for 30+ minutes. Radio and navigation work great, just the CD changer problems. I am needing to know:

1. any ideas to fix it?
2. If I need to pull the system out, how do I do that?
3. Is there a code I need to enter after I pull it out and re-install it?

Any input greatly appreciated.
Be blessed and have a great day.

Replace it. Common failure. Aftermarket is best.

Easy to pull. There are lots of "free" FSM's available to guide you through it. As for the fixing part, I can only guess. Since these units are a POS, I would save my coin and get a new aftermarket unit.

TLR:

My 04 D also has the RAQ code 6 cd in dash player that recently croaked. I see that you also have the rear VES/DVD system as mine does.

At this time, I cannot get my 6 discs out of it. The ONLY thing I did to bring this on was to do a battery disconnect reset to clear a CE code.

I have located a place in Elgin, Il. claims they will replace the changer mechanism and give a 6 month warranty for $125.

Due to the VES, and the fact that I mostly and oem type, I am going to ship them mine when I can do without the radio for a week or so.

Here is the link to take you to them. I am not in any way involved with this company, but am hoping to be a satisfied customer in the next month or so.

ebay $75-100 is average. I lost one and did lots of reading. I took it apart to get the cd's. Very easy to change yourself. Just need to make sure you get the same one. Some are low speed bus some are high.

TL:

I am very pleased to report that I did ship my radio to them, and they did a fantastic job of repairing and returning it.

I shipped it to their location in Illinois via UPS on a Tuesday. UPS delivered it the next day (Wednesday) around noon.

They had it repaired and shipped back out to me THE SAME DAY!.

The radio arrived less than 24 hours later on Thursday, and it has been playing great since I reinstalled it.

$125 covers the repair and return shipping. They charge $5 extra if you want your CD's removed from the old changer and returned.

Got to say that so far this is the way to go if you are sticking with the OEM radio.
