Heat only goes through vents...
The heat on my 2004 Durango 4.7L will not blow through the defrost and/or floor, it will only go through the vents. No matter what selection the **** is on, it will only blow through the vents. This happens every season when I go from Heat to Air or Air to Heat. It will usually just switch over to the proper **** selection in a few weeks, but it hasn’t switched yet. I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what I’ve had to do the past 3 or 4 years…just hope that eventually the heat kicks in to go through the defrost and floor (to de-ice my window and heat up my feet!) instead of just hot air through the vent in my face. HELP PLEASE. I can hear like it wants to change when I move the **** selection, but it doesn’t. Also I can hear and feel the louder difference when I put it as re-circulate so I know the **** works, but it won’t put through defrost.
When I have gotten it to switch over to defrost in the past, I’ll have the opposite problem come next Summer. The air will be stuck going through the defrost and won’t switch to vents.
I had a Dodge mechanic look at it a few years ago but he couldn’t figure it out (or was too lazy to tell me what was wrong haha). Please help if ya can. Thanks, John.
