Default 2006 Durango auto lock procedure not working

2006 Durango Limited 4x4 Hemi

My Durango recently stopped auto-unlock feature when exiting vehicle. It still auto-locks at 15mph. I tried the steps listed in the manual, but get no chime afterward and nothing changes. Any ideas?

It may be a dealer controlled adjustment, only. Despite what the manual indicates, I was told that only the dealer can adjust the auto unlock, and that the manual is incorrect. I attempted to change the feature but was frustrated by its failure to adjust. Hence, the dealer made the adjustment. Go figure.

Default 2006 Durango HEMI 4x4 Auto-unlock stopped working

I know the original post is old but I had the same problem and thought I'd share what worked for me. The auto-unlock feature just stopped working for no apparent reason however the auto-lock after 15 mph still works. Tried the programming directions in the owners manual but never could get it to work or hear a chime. Looked everywhere on the net and could not find a solution. I finally decided to disconnect the negative cable from the battery with the driver interior dome light in the on position (to provide some drain) and then reconnected the negative cable after 10 minutes. Problem solved. Now the auto-unlock works again (all doors unlock when the driver door is opened). That was driving me crazy. I don't know if leaving the dome light in the on position makes a difference but it worked for me. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Dodgeman, what was your thinking on disconnecting the negative ground? Why draining the battery with the light on? After you performed the latter, did you have to reconfigure the process viia the procedure in the manual, or did it just work on its own?

My reasoning behind disconnecting the negative ground cable was to hopefully reset the vehicles CPU. Similar to when you reboot a desktop to fix a high percentage of problems. The intent of leaving the light in the on position was to hopefully drain any residual energy left in the vehicles system, not to drain the battery. I did not need to do anything else after reconnecting power, it just started working. I assume the auto-unlock feature is a factory default setting and maybe that's why it started to work again. Hope this clears things up.

Dodgeman, thank you. Interesting analysis. Paradoxically, mine stopped working after power loss (2x), and had to be reset by the technician.
