Default Remote Start Options

Hello Everyone,

I would like to install a remote start system in my 2006 Durango Limited. I wanted to see if anyone has one installed (besides the factory one). I would like to get some opinions before I jump into this.

Thanks,
James

My wife got the Viper 5901 for her 2006. At the time, it was pretty much the best Viper offered. I also worked at Best Buy at the time, and the employee discount is pretty nice there. I got it bought and installed for about $400. Its normally $500 (including install) before any extra adapters/harnesses/wiring/misc parts, and all those little parts stack up.

Viper has since come out with a more expensive option, if money isn't a problem, the 5904. Better remotes.

Had to "reset" it once a few days after install by disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes. The remote was having intermittent connection issues with the car. After some research, turns out shortly after install it needs to be "reset" sometimes, and if you don't, it may act weird. After we did that, haven't had a single problem with it in almost a year now.

Before the 2006 Dingo, the wife had her a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Had a Viper remote system on that for a couple years before she totaled it, and it never gave us an issue either. When it comes to remote starts, you get what you pay for.
