Default Gas pedal twitching

2004 5.7 Hemi 4x4 125,000 miles

Recently, the gas pedal has been "twitching" rather mysteriously. The twitching movement is subtle, but you can definitely see and feel it, and it makes an audible clicking noise each time. There is no pattern to when it occurs - it may do it all day long, or not at all. It happens in all driving conditions (slow, fast, idle). Perhaps the strangest thing is that you can't replicate the movement or clicking noise by jiggling the pedal by hand.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the cruise control, but that's just a hunch, and not really based on anything solid. Any ideas?

Do you have power adjustable pedals? The Hemi has an electronically controlled throttle so I dont think it is cruise related. Any change in rpm's when it twitches?

I think Hiibilli nailed it - the vehicle does indeed have a pedal adjustment feature, which we just haven't ever really used. I can replicate the twitching sound by pressing the adjustment switch. It's too soon to tell if moving the pedal up and down a bit actually corrects the issue, but at least I know what to focus on now for a possible repair.
